Chicago, IL - Meeting Professionals International, Chicago Area Chapter (MPI-CAC), a professional association serving 1,300+ members, is hosting its 4th Annual Women's Leadership Conference on November 10, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Hotel Orrington in Evanston, IL.

As part of the Chapter's ongoing mission to provide quality professional development and networking forums, "11... 10... 09... Countdown to a New Beginning:  Reinventing Yourself and Your Career" is a one-day educational conference focused on women's career development, with an emphasis on building leadership skills. The day includes numerous opportunities to network with its educational sessions, luncheon program, tradeshow appropriately named "The ConnectionPlace," and Silent Auction.

The educational track offers attendees opportunities to gain tips to strengthen their "value" within the current workplace; to explore a passion to launch a new business; or to begin a whole new career path.

A panel discussion entitled "Plan B: Reinventing Yourself & Your Business Relationships" features first-hand advice from meeting and hospitality industry executives who have successfully re-engineered their careers. Additional informative seminars and workshops are designed to address critical issues facing women professionals in today's challenging business environment. Four major areas are emphasized:

  • Professional Development: "Make Your First Impression Positively Powerful"
  • Financial Stability: "Who's In Control: Are you in control of your finances or are they controlling you?"
  • Personal Growth: "How'd You Score That Gig?"
  • Workplace Environment: "Knowledge Share: SPEAK UP!"

With over 25% growth of women-owned businesses since 1997, the luncheon program features success factors of women entrepreneurs. Steve Kaplan, president of The Difference Maker, presents, "Women in Business: The New Reality." In this hour-long program, Kaplan will discuss key issues while sharing his perspective on how women executives have become more prevalent in business with each passing decade.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • build and maintain a rolodex - for clients or suppliers.
  • thrive in an unstable economy by concentrating on growth industries.
  • address some of the past misconceptions and discover ways to break the stereotypes that still exist.

"Now in its fourth successive year, The Woman's Leadership Conference has grown and improved each year," Chrissy Ward, current president of MPI-CAC, commented. "There is more reason than ever for professionals to seek out opportunities that will help them fulfill their goals, both professional and personal. This conference and tradeshow is tailored to women's specific issues, and is just one of many great forums offered by MPI-CAC in support of its entire membership."

The ConnectionPlace tradeshow will offer attendees the chance to network while learning about destinations, businesses and organizations tailored to women's needs. In addition, those who participate in the Silent Auction benefiting the MPI Foundation will have the chance to bid on luxury hotel stays, event tickets, restaurant gift certificates and other related items.

Conference sponsors include The Hotel Orrington, Mexico Tourism Board, Edward Fox Photography, Warner Audiovisuals, Meeting Trader, Directions, Inc., Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, BBJ Linens, Boundless Network, Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Francine Marketing, Kalahari Resorts and Phillip's Flowers.
