Jeff Peck Productions Adopts British Standard 8901
08/19/2009
ATLANTA, GA — Jeff Peck Productions (JPP), a full-service production company with offices in Atlanta and Los Angeles, announced its adoption of British Standard (BS) 8901 for sustainable event management. BS 8901 specifies a sustainable event management system encompassing productions ranging from business meetings, conferences and conventions to the 2012 Olympics and other unique events. The Standard identifies environmental, social and economic issues associated with an event, evaluates these issues, and approaches them with balanced solutions.
Jeff Peck Productions has always emphasized environmental responsibility, but is now pleased to approach sustainability according to BS 8901's guidelines.
“JPP's goal is to produce, in partnership with our clients and suppliers, sustainable projects that go beyond being green,” says Jeff Peck, President of JPP. “Many programs focus solely on the important environmental issues we face today, but BS 8901 addresses social and economic factors as well.”
With BS 8901, JPP will be provided with the requirements for planning and managing sustainable events of all types and sizes, supplemented by advice on how to meet and surpass them. Carbon emissions and waste will be reduced and offset, the use of local resources will be utilized, and efficiency will be maximized.
“We are committed to sustainable management and believe that the standards set by BS 8901 will eventually become a requirement in the event production industry,” Peck said. “We will move forward with measurable goals that reduce impact on the environment, add value to the communities we work in, and create industry standards with our actions.”
